SIRI, LYN65 & A BONFIRE

Here's the latest:  Last night we were invited to my friend Megan's for a bonfire.  But first, we grabbed a bite at Lyn 65.

No, first, we drove to Lyn 65 and on the way I learned from Brian that you can ask Siri what plane is flying over you in real time.  My mind was blown until some quick fact checking cast a tinsy weensy bit of shade on Siri's results.

Lyn 65 is stripmall on the outside, hipster on the inside.  It is very weird, but very good.  We have been there a few times and can never get an actual table since they are always completely booked with reservations.  They have a wait list for the bar, though, and the wait is never long.  Plus, you can order drinks from the hostess while you wait.  We got a spot at the bar after about 20 minutes.  Dinner was excellent - I had a mushroom pizza (amazing) and Brian had a burger (amazing).  After dinner they give you soft serve ice cream cones and there is nothing wrong with that.

After dinner we went to Megan's.  Her neighbors were over and we sat around the bonfire on the deck.  Megan's daughter is unbelievably cute and Megan's neighbor is the most enthusiastic fan of Thermo King in Minnesota, if not the world.

HELLO 2016

Hi there!  Hello!  Happy new year!

I'm not sure where to start, so I'll start with the obvious.  Today is the first day of a fresh new year.  I love the promise of beginning a new calendar.  I love believing that in a single day you can sweep away last year's grime and start all over again.  And I love the hopefulness of a new year's resolution.

Let's be real, though.  Resolutions are so, so hard to maintain.  Every January 1st, every year of my life, I will always resolve to work out like a fiend.  And every year, without fail, January will be way too cold and icy to run much, the gym will be overcrowded and my couch will be alluringly cozy and warm.  Inevitably, my resolution will fail.

Even so.  I am not one to be discouraged from picking the optimistic path, so new year's resolve I do.

Starting this little writing project today is the beginning of a 2016 resolution.  I was strongly encouraged  to make my journal public (ahem, Brian) and here goes!

I'm not sure what I'll share here yet - probably a mix of travel, food, my dog, pictures and a bunch of other things you don't need to know about but that I insist on telling you.  And I swear I'll keep up this resolution.  After all, I don't even have to get off my couch for this one.

So, cheers to a bright, shiny new year!  Buckle up.  Here we go.
